Platform investigation

A TikTok spike or drop is an observation. WITNESS investigates the cause.

The WITNESS connector architecture models authorized TikTok identity, profile totals, and video-list metrics as evidence. Those signals can help establish what changed while WITNESS preserves provider scope, timing, metric meaning, provenance, and uncertainty.

Investigation patterns

Did distribution expand or did audience response improve?

Separate exposure volume from the behavior of people who actually received the work before calling growth “stronger demand.”

Was a viral spike durable?

Compare the event with creator baselines, subsequent videos, profile-level movement, and related evidence instead of treating one exceptional post as a permanent trend.

Did TikTok change independently?

Compare the TikTok pattern with other authorized signals to see whether the change is platform-specific or part of a wider creator trend.

Is the apparent pattern structurally unusual?

Use Signal Integrity and anomaly analysis to identify timing or distribution patterns that should change how much the evidence deserves trust.

Viral does not automatically mean valuable.

A high-volume event can be important while still producing weak follow-on behavior. WITNESS separates the scale of distribution from evidence about audience quality, persistence, and downstream change.

Platform constraints remain attached.

TikTok access depends on the provider's authorization model and the metrics available to the connected account. WITNESS should never silently infer unavailable private metrics or convert missing evidence into a numeric zero.

WITNESS does not ask only “did this TikTok perform?” It asks what changed, what else could explain it, and what the evidence supports.
